USA Today reports that women governors are more successful at bringing together both parties - July 25, 2006 - USA Today reports that female governors are better than their male peers at engaging crossover voters, working with the opposing party and winning re-election.  Five women governors are running for re-election this year and three of the five are running in states dominated by the opposite party.  Jeanne Shaheen, a former three-term governor of New Hampshire and now director of Harvard's Institute of Politics, says women leaders tend to be "more consensus-building, more interested in getting input from other people and less interested in taking credit."
