Sarah Palin becomes Alaska's Governor; Lyda Green named Senate President - December 04, 2006 - Sarah Palin was sworn in as the first women governor of Alaska at noon on Monday, December 4 in Fairbanks, Alaska.  She became the ninth governor of Alaska and the ninth women governor in the United States currently in office.  She is the twenty-ninth woman to ever be governor.  In addition to Sarah Palin assuming the top spot in the state, Lisa Murkowski is the US Senator from Alaska and Lyda Green will become president of the state Senate when the new legislative session begins in January.  Dana Fabe was selected to serve a second term as Chief Justice of the Alaska Supreme Court earlier this year.  Although there is a new TV show about Alaska called "Men in Trees", a reality version might be named "Women in Charge".
